Dodge Announces Pricing for All-new 2008 Challenger SRT8®

Dodge Challenger SRT8 available for $37,995

• The American muscle coupe is back, packed with modern technology and innovation
• Demand for contemporary version of iconic pony car drives Dodge to accept orders for the 2008 Challenger SRT8® beginning Dec. 3, 2007
• Introduction begins with limited-edition Dodge Challenger SRT8 models – each with numbered dash plaque
• Complete, broader Challenger lineup details and pricing still to come
• 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models feature 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 and are available in Black, Silver or HEMI Orange

Auburn Hills, Mich. – Dodge announced pricing today for the modern interpretation of the American muscle coupe. The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8® will arrive in showrooms next spring at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $37,995 (which includes $675 destination).

Due to unprecedented demand, Dodge dealers will begin taking orders on Dec. 3 for the limited-edition 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models. Each will feature a numbered dash plaque and a 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 engine. 2008 Challenger SRT8 models will be available in Black, Silver and HEMI Orange. All will feature dual “carbon-fiber” hood stripes, harkening back to the original Dodge Challenger.

“The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers pure American pony-car muscle,” said James Press, Vice Chairman & President – Chrysler LLC. “With styling that stays true to Challenger’s original heritage, an abundance of modern amenities and cutting-edge technology, the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will deliver the SRT credo of benchmark performance at a tremendous value.

“The Challenger SRT8 is only the beginning of the story, as we’ll soon follow with a complete lineup of Challenger models that will offer a wide array of features and deliver outstanding value for our customers,” Press added.

Customers may begin placing orders at their Dodge dealer on Monday, Dec. 3. They can expect to take delivery of their vehicle next spring.

The all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will be built at the Chrysler Canada Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, on the same assembly line with the Dodge Charger, Charger SRT8, Magnum, Magnum SRT8, Chrysler 300 and Chrysler 300 SRT8 vehicles.

Pricing for the complete all-new Dodge Challenger lineup will be announced at a later date.

SRT performance vehicles – including the Dodge Viper SRT10, Dodge Caliber SRT4, Dodge Magnum SRT8, Dodge Charger SRT8, Chrysler 300C SRT8, Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT8, and now, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 – are engineered by Chrysler’s in-house performance organization: Street and Racing Technology.

The all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 showcases the renowned, five key aspects of every SRT vehicle: exterior styling that resonates with the brand image; race-inspired interiors; world-class ride and handling characteristics across a broad range; benchmark braking; and standout powertrain. The all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will unquestionably deliver in all five areas.

I'm sure you have to make a 5000$ down payement at point of order. That is what my dealer wants for any SRT8 he gets in.

You basically get a bill of sale when you order a vehicle. Each dealer will be allocated a share of the cars. The smaller the dealer the less chance they will have of even getting one.

Your dealer could "push you back" in the pecking order if he has a better customer come in and they really want one. That is not unheard of. When the 1995 Avengers came out I wanted to be the first one on the block with one. My dealer was having a hard time getting his order in so I went over his head and got it pushed through corporate. So when I got mine somebody else lost out.

I always wondered why I wasn't able to get that '95 Avenger that I ordered. Now I know.

So the dealer can push me back on his list. (that i under stand) but if i make a deal with the dealer. chrysler won't come back later and say sorry we won't deliver one to the dealer because another bigger dealer wants your car ( once inputted in the computer that one would be allotted to that dealer?). each dealer should get at least two of them right. I think i read some were there are 2400 dealerships and they are making 5000 challengers.

Small dealers may not even get any but they should know if they can get one on order date. You should go talk to your dealer NOW and make sure you can even get on his list. Mine has been on "order" with my dealer ever since they were announced. (I have first crack at one) Also, you say 2400 dealers, but that is just in the US I believe. Don't forget about us poor Canadians

If you go to the dodge website, it says MSRP of $40,095 on the challenger home page, however the press release still says $37,995

Question, Would my chances be better to order with a 5 star dealership than a regular ol' dealership?

Just my guess I think the gas tax is already on the sticker so they must disclose the sales price with it in there

$37,995 + $2,100 Gas guzzler Tax = $40,095.00

So what does that translate for canadians? 60 grand? We will have to live with one with MPH guages . It will be worth it if we save enough

That remains to be seen! They won't give us the current exchange rate! Essentially the vehicle should be cheaper up in Canada due to the savings on components coming from the US.

And the fact that it is built here in Canada. I am betting it starts at about $46K in Canada. Any takers on that bet?

well if it was a direct exchange on our dollar we shouldnt have a problem but cars in canada are quite a bit more expensive SRM-RT. This has resulted in alot of Canadians running to the US for cheaper cars now that our dollar is so strong.

Ram3500Dually
11-30-2007, 04:13 PM
It has also resulted in Chrysler Canada denying warranty coverage on new cars built in the US

well after talking to 8 dodge dealerships SUNSHINE DODGE (bought 4 cars), JERRY ULM DODGE bought 1 car) , STAFFORD DODGE (brother bought 14 cars) , BONIFACE DODGE (family has bought 29 cars), (LAKELAND CHRYSLER DODGE (bought 0), PLANET DODGE (bought 1), SOUTH DADE DODGE (bought 0), , NAPLES DODGE (bought 0), . They have said ether the owner of the dealership is keeping it or they want $20,000.00 up to $50,000.00 over msrp because dodge reps. have said they will only get one for the 2008 model srt. ------- this is what some of the dealers are saying---- the dealer may not be able to even pick the color the reps are talking about random picking what dealer gets what.

Its a nice car but its way over priced for what you get. SRT-8 out the door for $35,000 would be sweet. Few of my dads friends are getting the SRT-8 for there chrysler company lease car. They should have them around first of the year.

They won't have them anywhere near close to the first of the year. They aren't running the first ones down the line till the middle of March, AFTER the Dodge Magnum has made its final run.

Well, this isn't good. Went to my dealer today to see what was up. There is no pricing for Canadians right now. There is also only 500 cars coming to Canada. My order is in. Now what the owner told me. There is no way to assure he is even going to GET one. If he does, then I am number one on the list to get it. We can only order two colors here in Canada. Black and Orange. He thinks the company is gonna pull a bone on the dealers here and make them take a bunch of cars or trucks that aren't selling in order for him to even get a Challenger.
The only good news out of this is he only made me put $20 down on it :) He says he has to take SOME kind of deposit in order for it to be a legal contract. I can live with that :D

I can't wait to get one! But, alas, I don't buy new. I can't stand the depreciation of driving off the lot new, so I'll probably wait until 2011 when I can buy a used orange or black 2009 model SRT 6.4L, IF anybody even trades theirs in.
