Maybe I should have said "Will the '03D proceedure (listed above) work on an '04D?"
Thanks

Looks good but does it affect the allignment or the way the tires may wear?

Good question. I am curious also. Just bought an '04 SLT last week. I traded in my 1999 5.2L SLT Durango. Man.. That was hard.
Anyhow.. I have always hated that "rake" effect. So.. I to would be interested in if it affects the tire alignment.
or did you get it realigned after you did it?

Where is the torsion nut for the front on the 04 Durango? Is it just one nut to raise the front or one for each side? Do you have a photo of the nut that you need to adjust?

Did you just have the bars cranked up, or are new bars available

all I did was turned up stock bars turn bolts 8 full turn 1 turn equals 1/4 " you can get about 2" of lift this way I would spend the 50 dollers to have front end allignment done
I have 5000 miles on my truck and have notice slight cupping on tires will have front end alligned this weekfor all thoughts who keep asking

Hello Squrll !!!!
Your Durango looks great !!!! I too am in favor of the even look you accomplished by raising the front end. What I was wondering......... for those of us that don't require alot of ground clearance, how much trouble would it be to "lower" the rear end (rather than raising the front) to match the front profile?? Obviously this would help in making the undersized wheels and tires look a little more to scale. Not being very suspension knowledgeable, I would like to hear any input that you guys could offer on the expense, ride compromise, etc. etc.
Thanks alot Dennis

What happens if you put a trailer on it now? It's going to look like it's saggin in the rear. It certainly does look better though. Guess you'll have to get an adjustable air suspension to level it out when you are towing.... :rck:

Squrll,
Is your D a 4WD? I have a 2WD, do you know if this will work on my 2WD the same way?
Thanks!

Squrll,
Let me be another person to bug you...have you had any problems after your alignment after you did this?
I have been trying to find Coil Spacers, etc for the 04 Dango's and havent had luck. I mentioned this to several 4x4 shops and they told me it isnt a good idea, because of effects of Alignment and tire wear. I am just curious what effects you are seeing..
would love to know.

04 Durango's use a torsion bar suspension, the twisting of the bar is what supports the vehicle.

Yea, I went to the dealer and talked to one of the service guys as well as some 4x4 buddies I have. I have determined that until somone develops a lift for the Gen2 Dango's I am out of luck. I have heard twisting the torsion bars up MAY cuase some problems to tire wear, alignment, and ride quality. Getting 2 inches of front lift isnt worth giving up those other things.
thanks all

I too have a Gen2 D 4x4. I am wanting to put a six inch lift on it but have had no luck finding anywhere that sells one. Can anyone out there help me out? Squrll, the look is good but I have been strongly advise of not doing that to torsion bars from many machanics due to long term problems when I had my F150 supercrew lift. Just a heads up for you buddy.
