I went out to my van last week and tried to start it with the autostarter that has been on it for ever. Nothing...
So I unlocked the door and climbed in grumbling, and put the key in the ignition. I turned the key on and there was a clicking in the steering column. It was not the starter solenoid, but more like a relay or something cycling...

I turned the key and nothing, just like the battery was completely dead. No radio, no fan, nothing. So I sat there a minute and thought, lights not on, door not left open... What has happened. I tried the key about 6 to 8 more times and the darn thing finally started, then stopped right away. I started it again right away and it stopped. This time I held the throttle about 1/2 way and the engine started and went to 3,000 RPM and I held it there. The van kept running, and I drove home. Lights on the rear wiper, air conditioning and re-circ fan blinking.

These lights have been blinking since then. I go to my van wednesday and the same thing. I got out and checked the battery and the terminals looked coroded. I managed to turn the negative cable and the van started right away. The lights on the dash continue to blink. I cleaned the terminals, had the battery tested and still these lights blink.

What is wrong? These lights are driving me crazy...!

Thanks
Todd

this is a common problem that happens on these vans when the battery is weak or you have bad battery connections.

With engine on set blower motor to high, set mode position knob to panel (i.e. full left), open all A/C outlets, set temperature to cold (both levers if so equipped). Now press the wash and rear wiper buttons on the A/C panel simultaneously for 5 seconds (until all LED's light). This should get the test started. Assorted lights on this panel will flash as different tests are run. Eventually if the tests are passed the rear wiper LED should be the only light flashing. Push the rear wiper button to exit test mode and you should be home free.

Had same problem but when I did the recalibration and when the test was done and I exited the test, both A/C buttons continue to flash. Tried to rerun the test but it won't work. How do I get this test to run again?

I had the same symptoms.... I did this test... BUT
I get a code of some sort...
5 blinks (the intermittent wiper light)
1 blink (wiper light)
6 blinks (intermittent wiper light)
1 blink (wiper light)

can anyone tell me what this means?
