broken key in ingnition

I broke the key to my 06 off in the ignition switch. BUMMER! After trying to start it several times with a screwdriver. The engine would start and then shut off, (the anti theft worked,. I tried to start it and for some reason I touched the 2 broken pieces together and the van started up and I headed for the house. The dealer only charged me $385.00 for a new ignition switch and key Nice of him to give me a 5% discount on the parts..

This is why we use the word "Stealership". If you could turn the lock, you could have popped the old lock cylinder right out, give it a good shake-- maybe used something sharp to get the old key piece out, then just use your spare. Probably about 15-20 minutes.

If you don't have a spare, I hope you at least got 2 new sentry keys for your $400.
