I have a 1996 Grand Caravan LE 3.8 that has an issue that has a few stumped. Got van from freind and was told the the ECM was bad and needed to be replaced. Replaced ECM but the issues that it is having did not go away. The problem that I am experiancing is as follows: start vehical let run at idel in park it will die after about 45min with no warning, go to restart and will not restart. Let cool off 5-10 min and starts fine, let it sit at idel again and it will do it againg shorter time frame though same to restart . Problem appears to be temp related.
The problem also appears while moving and in gear just at different time intervals and depending on how much stop and go it is, longer time frame if moving more, again appears to be temp related.
Disconected tempature sensor by waterneck and the problem goes away completly do get a code telling me that there is a issue with it, but again that is because it is disconnected. Assumeing that the temp sensor was the problem replaced it but the problem did not go away. While disconected the fans run all the timre while the motor is on. Assuming that without the temp sensor connected the fans will run since there is nothing to tell them what the temp is. Or should it be the opposite not run since there is nothing to tell it what the temp is.
Has any one experienced this or have any thought, dont want to just start replaceing sensor blindly trying to solve a problem. Need more info let me know.
