I had my 2003 Caravan serviced today and had the filter and fluid changed...........After picking up the vehicle I noticed a transmission bucking type thing.........I dont think it is normal .........van has 70k and this is the first time for changing servicing the filter and fluid.............any ideas ???

If you went to one of those quick fluid change places, they prolly added an additive to the regular atf they use with all the other makes and models. Well this additive is complete B.S. and should be taken out immediatley or you WILL have major tranny problems down the line. I reccommend going to the stealership to have the tranny serviced with a chrysler product. That is if you cant do it yourself.

I took it to a place where I trust the people and go always for service........I called and talked to the manager and he assured me they used atf+4. They even told me to bring it back and they went thru everything again and it still stutters/bucks slightly between 25/30 mph on slowdown after acceleration........

After doing hours of research I am convinced in my own head that an inferior fluid was used............I know need to figure out how i am going to get all the old ( new ) fluid out..........so I can change it all.......This really pisses me off......go in with no problems and spend 100 plus dollars and come out worse off and now if I dont get this stuff out It may end up costing me a new tranny......WTF

First check the levels and make sure they didn't over or under fill it , don't take their word for it . Second if it continues take it to the dealer and have them do a quick learn procedure on the tranny . It may take of itself in time as the tranny relearns it parameters with the new fluid installed. When you check the fluid take a sniff ATF =4 definetly has a different smell to it .

I have writen all I can write on this subject and will write no more.
IMHO your trans now is toast, thank to a non specific atf fluid that was used.

I'll write more-- There is a way to change out most of the fluid at home and put in ATF+4 that you bought yourself. Believe me, the last thing the shop will do if you are having problems is admit that they put the wrong fluid in.

The procedure involves doing a pan drop and refill followed by disconnecting the rubber trans cooler hose and pumping out one quart at a time and then adding a quart. It is a relatively easy thing to do with some basic tools and inexpensive materials. It won't get all the crap out, but it will get most of it. Let me know if you want further info. You may be able to find it if you search "home flush".

I went through pretty much this same ordeal about 3 years ago with my 96 Grand Voyager. A local tranny shop put the wrong fluid in when he should have put in ATF+3. (This was before the TSB that came out stating I can now use ATF+4). Anyways, I went to the local Dodge dealer with about 18 qts. of ATF+3 on hand. They emptied the wrong fluid, flushed the tranny with ATF+3, then filled with ATF+3. That was back when my van had 93,xxx miles on it. Just sold it a couple of weeks ago with 121,xxx miles. Not a single problem ever with that tranny. Do what I did-it's not too late!!!

You think my tranny is toast after driving 10 miles with the wrong fluid.......LOL .......you are a genius..............anyway.........I think that the stealership needs to reset the Quicklearn .and see if that helps or Ill get the stealershhip to flush and fill.............

Um, no, Mr. Rocetman, you are the genius. Taking your van to a so called shop you claim to know so well and oops now all of a sudden you have tranny woes.

Go ahead and let your heat out on someone since you obviously feel better about yourself after doing so. MORON.

Ok we'll see how long it lasts. I can't imagine that a simple computer reset will relearn new fluid. In either case, you shoulda just done it the right way instead of pulling your hair outta your head and running around like a chicken without a head crying.

The correct atf+4 was used..I know I doubted it by the way the van was running. But the mopar tech told me they sometimes do that and the computer quicklearn needed to be reset..........
