My wife was driving our 1992 3.0L Grand Caravan when the engine shut down and the temperature, speedometer, and gas gauges all quit and swung to minimum (far left). I checked the engine codes and all that I saw was Code 12. Tonight I was driving and the car quit at a stoplight and would not start at all. Finally, after probably 5-10 minutes of trying, I got it started. When I checked the fault codes again, I had a 12 and a 41 (alternator field control circuit open/short circuit). How do I diagnose these codes? Would a faulty alternator cause a 41 and cause the car to shutdown?
