Hello, I have had someone working on my Grand Caravan, 1997. It has recently developed a scenario where we will be driving a long and it dies, then restarts by itself while moving, other times, it will die when at a stop light, or comming to a stop.
I have noticed that before this happens that the Idle speed is low, and that the vehicle seems to be chugging a little.
after this happens several times, the check engine light comes on. I have since taken it to a dodge mechanic, and they have indicated that the code that comes up indicates that it is the cam sensor. So far they have replaced the cam sensor 2 times, and now have preformed a series of other tests because that did not fix the issue. the vehicle still has the same symptoms and is still stalling. However the code still says that it is the cam sensor.
The vehicle has been checked for fuel pressure (fuel pump) the wiring has been tested. Now they are recommending a process of elimination. Replace something, then test it again, if that does not work, replace something else and then test it again. doing things this way is going to get very expensive, since what they replace could potentially have nothing wrong with it. It has now become a guessing game.
any ideas?
thank you
