Does anyone know much about the Ford 7.3L (444ci) turbo diesels? I was just wondering if they were good reliable motors? Im sure they are since they are used widespread in ambulances and countless super duty trucks. Do they make much power and are they receptive to mods?

Just wondering how they compare to a Cummins of the same era.

Ford 7.3 non turbo will hold up better for longevity I just sold a 88 7.3 non turbo with 276,000 on it at my auction and it had no problems I would have trusted it myself but my dodge has over 400,000 and I have never had to do anything to it so it has a ways to catch up but i have never known of a good V8 diesel maybe a detroit but thats about it I know guys pulling loads and testing the fords would have to rebuild at 198,000 almost everytime and that was 2 trucks everytime, its just all in what you want and how much money you want to spend

Other than the DCA additive in the coolant to stop cavitation, the 7.3 PowerStroke seemed to be good to friends that owned them.
