I have a 1987 D150 318 2bbl and engine has less than 60,000 miles on it after rebuild.I'm having two problems first every time you stop and press the gas there is a hesitate like it's getting to much or not getting the right amount of gas.After that she runs fine good and seems strong.The other is when at idle and you rev say about 2000rpms or more black smoke come out of the tail pipes,could this have something to do with the hesitate problem maybe the float is off .I just rebuilt the carb but reused the old float or maybe the choke pull off is causing this does anyone have any ideas?

I think here the key is the black smoke. That is unburned fuel.. right?

Choke may not be coming off fully, might need adjusting.
