1975 dodge stepside 318 2wd: Starts up for a few seconds then dies, It is getting fuel, power all the way through to plugs... Pulled plugs (very Black) with key sitting in on position the ballast resistor gets so hot you cant touch it and the spark on the coil is blue/pink almost maybe purple. ECU has no hot spots on the back.

a classic symptom of a problem with the ballast resistor is an engine that will fire when the starter turns it but shuts off as soon as the key goes from the start to the run position
Change the ballast resistor or
do as the guys recommend and change over to a GM style HEI
