I hope there are cars rolling through the Conner Ave. assembly line VERY SOON. I have a blue/white striped convert on order, with serial number assigned. Do any of you work for the plant (only about 170 workers) or for a contractor working with these cars? Can anyone with personal knowledge advise with accuracy what the problem is, and when will production begin in earnest? Thanks to anyone who knows! :rck:

all i can tell you..is that I used to work in the tenneco plant that made exhaust for the viper. When I quit they were talking about re-tooling it for model year change-over...back in july

I talked to the President of the Houston VCA yesterday, they started building 2008 Vipers this week. He received his VIN for his order this week.

My Blue/white convert is en route to Woodhouse in Blair, NE, and should arrive at my house on Sunday or Monday, in Louisiana. Bill Pemberton sold me this one. It will have the five spoke wheels, which are my favorite of the 3 styles offered, floor mats and polished aluminum side sill entry covers. I have a Sirius Radio and SRS cruise control to have installed by my Viper tech. I might change the cats if they are too hot on the side panels. How sweeeeet it issss!

It was after dark, about 6pm last night when the truck arrived with my blue/white Viper. I will take some daylight photos today or tomorrow. The car sounds great, shifts great, and looks great. I didn't open her up because she only had 7 miles on the odometer when I got it, as well as the road being wet from rain. The side sills weren't hot at all-just barely warm. This is the best Viper I've owned, of four, and it's the first brand-new Viper I've owned.
This car met and exceeded my expectations. The shifter was smoother and more precise than was my '05 with Hurst shifter. The new Transmission was not "notchie" like the previous cars' transmissions, even though it had hardly any miles or break-in.
The exhaust sound is the best factory sound yet. It has some growl, without being loud. I would equate it to Corsa catback sound, or about the same decibles as were the last 350 Chebby Camaros. It was easy to carry on a conversation with my lovely wife, even with the top down. Of course, I only got up to 55 mph due to the wet roads. Oh, yeah, it's the smoothest off the line with lite throttle of any Viper I've ever driven. No more dip or stumble on light acceleration from a dead stop. It feels like it has 3.55 gears, but was 100% factory equipped. I think I'm in love...... :D

Go to the Viper Club of America, forums, SRT discussions, and look under "'08 Viper has landed" and the photos are posted there. I tried posting here, but couldn't figure it out.Sorry 'bout that.

Well, allowing for its being dirty from wet roads, what did you think? Notice the rake of the car with the top down? That's from the stock 18" wheels in front with stock 19" wheels in the back. This thing shifts and drives much better than any of the earlier editions! No fooling. It really does. I haven't opened her up yet, and will wait till after it has 500 miles and an oil change.

Love the car, almost bought several 96/97 Blue with white stripe GTS Vipers before I bought my 99. I like the rake as well, it fits the vert shape well. I am very impressed with the dyno numbers we are seeing so far. I think there will be quite a few 03-06's for sale soon to upgrade. Hopefully the new 08's being so much better will not affect the value of my 99 GTS. There seems to be some who like the Gen1 and 2 cars, and some who like the Gen 3 and up, since they are quite a bit different.

Maybe I need to run by Hennessey here in town to look at his, he's got one just like yours (not sure if it is a vert or not).... :D

they only make blue/white in converts, except for perhaps a special offing for raffle or charity. No coupes will be for sale to the public in that color. By the way, there will be NO MORE blue/whites made for sale this year. There're done with that color.

Well, if you are ever in TX give me a shout - or if I head to the casinos in LA one day, I'll see if ya want to meet up. I'd love to see your car in person! Congrats again on the awesome car, let us know after the 500 mile break in is done!!! :D

Blk, I was a member of the Houston VCA for several years, and enjoyed tracking my '96 GTS at TWS in College Station over a two year period. We have No Problem Raceway west of Baton Rouge where we could run our cars on the dragstrip or on the road course. The road course is a whoot. I ran low 12's at 123 mph in the GTS, which was slow due to tire limitations and my poor skills with them. I am certain to be into the 11's with the '08, however. I just hope they don't eject me because the rollbar I've ordered has yet to be designed by Autoform. Maybe in a month or two they'll have them ready for us. Let me know when you're in S.E. LA, 70 miles north of New Awhlins. :)
