Can someone enlighten me? Have a 2007 Diesel, 3000 miles, and the dealer says the fuel system needs to be replaced because of "Bad Fuel". Of course it isn't covered under warranty. (Repair estimate is $18,000) Just got an email further explaining that the fuel had water in it. I am getting samples from Valero where I got the fuel and the truck to get tested.

My question is: What does the fuel filter do? Are there any detectors, etc on the fuel system? Seems like there should be some safety nets out there if it's such an expensive problem, and I can't get much information from the dealer. They are treating it like this happens all the time and I'm just over reacting, like I'm just supposed to write them a check. Does anybody have any ideas on how to proceed? I've never heard of something like this.

Dont Run Bio And You Wont Have Bad Fuel And When Putting In Low Sulpher Diesel Put In Trans Fluid It Will Lubricate And Not Hurt Anything

There are fuel treatments designed to address the lack of sufficient fuel lubrication and cold weather fuel gel.
Use automatic transmission fluid in automatic transmissions, it has solids to keep the clutches clean...there are no clutches in an injector pump.
