Hey guys and gals. Stupid me, I've lost the only key to my truck. I'm dead in the water as they say. What are my alternatives as to getting another key? :VHOT:

almost better off getting a new ignition switch and door locks and keys...

A good reputable locksmith can make you a new set of keys..usually under $50.

If the truck has the orginal door locks in it so that the door key is the same as ignition than you can take one of your door locks in to a lock smith and they can make a key from it.

And keep a spare in your wallet, in case you get another bad case of the stupids and lock your keys in your car. Ask me how I know this ;)

84 ram is correct. My truck door had a broken key in the lock and took the door look to locksmith to repair the look and had more keys made. Real easy to remove the door lock too.

Thanks all. I'm not sure if the door lock is the same or not. It has the electric locks and when I got the truck they weren't working. I never tried using the key except maybe once just to see if I could get the lock to work. Of course it didn't work so I never tried again. It sure want hurt to give it a try though so I'll try to get the door lock out tomorrow and take it in to a smith.

A slide-hammer with a big ol' sheet metal screw ... And then a screwdriver works well also... Don't ask me how I know this ;)

I got the door lock out today without too many problems. Actually it was real simple, but the spring on the door handle some how jumped or moved and I can't figure out how to put it back the way it came off. I guess I'll figure that out later. At least now I can see if I can get a key cut. :)

Well, I got a new key now. The locksmith told me to leave the lock cylinder in the door, said it was easier to do it that way. He came out to the house and in just a few minutes had the key for the door lock cylinder cut, but wouldn't you know it, somebody, at some time, had changed the ignition key lock so it wouldn't work. Once he found that out, he jumped right on it and before I knew it, he had the steering wheel off and the ignition key cylinder out and a new one in. I'm $50.00 poorer right now, but it serves me right for being so stupid. I immediately went to town and had three more cut. :o

Ehhhh.... Shit Happens, y'know? I mean it's not anything like you just had a new rocker panel MIG'ed on and finished all the bodywork on the door ... And then a week later backed up into it with a FURD and destroyed it all, right?
Naaaaw, nuthin' like that! :D :D :D

(Pssssst.... If that's the worst thing that ever happens to ya, you're doing pretty good ;) I'll betcha' a doughnut that Speed is right... You'll find it in a couple of days down in the couch cushions or something :D )

Yea, I kept the old lock cylinder just in case. ;) My wife told me the other day that she's noticed that I'm loosing things more often and becoming a little more forgetful. Getting older has its problems, but we all know the old saying...it beats the alternative, right. :WHT:

Yeah, it happens... Good thing is, I'm at the point in my life where I can have 'selective' forgetfulness.... I really don't forget much, but if I want to...
Ehhh... THEY'LL never know :D :D :D

It's a GOOD thing.... ;)

That's just a little fairy tale the women make up to make ya feel better. And themselves too .... ;) "We get better with age, like a fine wine... blah-blah-blah..." Yeah, bulls**t.....

I'd love to have my 20 year-old body back. Wouldn't want to BE 20 again, just have the 'body' part of it back :D :D :D
