It makes a single click when I turn the ignition switch. I know it has bad battery cables......I can't get them tight to the posts. Can this cause a voltage drop and burn the starter?........tanks for any help.....

ya, new cables tonight.......battery was new last year, but I guess that dosen't mean anything....

I can't jump start it, and the lights were strong when I towed it, so I assume the battery is fine......

Poor connections.

Neons are extremely sensitive to the condition of the electrical connections. Clean and tighten the connections on the battery and the starter, as well as the ground wires (one should run to the core support, drivers side... the other from the starter to the block).

Changed the battery cable ends and it fired right up. Thanks for the posts....

p.s. battery cable ends ($3.99) - new cables at the dealer $120.00.
