Does anyone have an idea what that means. The car started fine.

Your battery has a low charge, or you're alternator is not charging it properly. Was it a cold morning? Did you hear any belts squealing? The alternator belt likes to slip a little on cold mornings on some neons, which would cause the alternator to improperly charge the battery thus triggering the dummy light. *Usually* the light will go off after a few minutes of driving when the belt warms up and stops slipping. You may have to check the tension on your alternator belt and tighten it if necessary. Having your battery and alternator tested isnt a bad idea either.

It was fine last night....the light went on this morning for the first time. real nice weather this week in Michigan....having our Indian Summer.....it wasn't cold this morning.

Can I check the alternator on the car with a multi-meter?

Just about any shop should have a battery tester, and most will test your battery and charging system for free. I'd recommend calling around. Heck, I think Autozone even tests that stuff free.

Autozone or Advanced auto will both test it for free. Along with the battery. Im betting it's a belt or alt problem. Good luck.

If my alt belt gets weak or loose my speedo goe's NUTZ! I could be doing less than 5 mph and it would read 70-80 mph. Chances are that with the engine light on Autozone can hook up the scanner to the car and it will tell you whats causing your battery light to come on. Atleast point you in the right direction.

thanks.....I got the codes last night..... (12) (25) and (41)....sounds like it's a mess! I'll try cleaning the battery terminals first...they're nasty....
