Noticed some oil leaks to the spark plugs housing tube for this neon 2.o L. Some one told me the engine cover gasket has been damaged and should be replaced . Is it true? And is it possible to change without going to the mechanic.
Any help how

Basic hand tools and you can do the job yourself. No need to pay a Mechanic for this job. Eventhingh I am one.

I see that you are new to the board. Welcome! You may get more information if you post in the forum for Neons though (this is the Caravan forum).

Ya know as far as I am concerned,I dont care where he chose to post. I think it might be obvious that he did see that there was a neon forum but decided to ask those with more experience in this forum instead. We should all be greatful and humbled.

Yeah, just would like to see him get the most help he can.
People hanging out in the Neon forums are more likely to know about Neons and since he's new, he may not have noticed that yet. No bad meant.

Ah i drive a neon and i try to offer my best help here in the caravan forums as well
The neons have spark plug tube gaskets(for SOHC and are called spark plug well seals on DOHC). they leak on mine too and a bit of oil likes to get around the top of the spark plug sometimes. They are pressed onto the bottom of the valve cover should be pretty easy to replace them
Since you will have to pull the valve cover to replace them you might need a new valve cover gasket as well
Part#'s for spark plug tube seals are 04777042 for SOHC engines
Spark plug well seals 04667421 for DOHC engines
DOHC engines dont have spark plus tubes
I will include images of both:
edit: number 4 in both pictures points to the seal i mentioned above
