I am looking to swap a transmission(4 spd auto) and xfer case from a 2000 Durango into a 79 Power Wagon that currently has a 3spd torqueflite and NP203 xfer case. Reason is that with 4.56 gears and 33x16.5 wheels, the motor is turning 3300rpm at 65mph. What I am hoping to find out is how to obtain the shift control for the transmission and transfer case from the Durango without the computer. Can this be done? Does anyone know what needs to be done. Looking for help ,,,, thanks.

howdy / it was in one of the mopar MAGS a while back / they put a newer tranny in a challanger with 340 w/4.56 gears/ they showed a wiring diagram to control the over drive and lock-up converter / two toggle switches / you would hafta get a tranny book to figure out which ones to plug into to make them work
I hope this helps and MOPAR TO YA /////////// DEANO

alright, at least I know that someone has done it,, I thot that you would need to control the shift points as well since it is electronically controlled and not by mechanical linkage anymore?

I saw an article in an online magazine, forget which one. It told me to stick with the 89-94 models, those years dont have electronic governors or solenoids. The newer ones do and without the throttle positioning sensor and the ECM, it cannot know when to shift. So the solution as I see it, is to find a trans (maybe xfer case too) from a 89-94 and just put in a switch to turn on Overdrive when needed. Thanks ,, John

I have a 2003 5.9l and transmission that I want to put into my 73 4X4
and dont want to spend $2000 for a Atlas or some other case that has
a passenger side drop
