I'm looking for a little help here I have a 95 neon SOHC and I am not getting any fire out of the # 2
& 3 plugs. I have replaced the coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires and computer. I'm getting power to the coil on all 3 wires, but the number 2 & 3 plugs are dead coming out of the coil. Any help is very appreciated.....thanks

As far as i know, there should only be 12v at the dark green/orange wire

the other 2 wires are ground circuits that go straight to the PCM to control the ignition coil firing

The black/grey wire is for cylinders 1 and 4
Dark blue/tan is for cylinders 2 and 3

since the coil pack has only 2 coils inside, each coil fires 2 spark plugs at the same time 1&4 and 2&3

Most common problem is simply a bad coil pack. Very easily replaced. just make sure you get a '95 coil pack because i believe the '96-'99 has a different connector.

very rarely does the coil driver curcuit to the PCM fail. which would involve replacing the PCM

Thanks for the information any idea why i would get power on all 3 wires ... i have tried 3 coils and 2 pcm's and i get the same thing .... power on all 3 wires going to the coil and nothing out of the number 2 & 3 plug ... I've also changed the crank and cam sensor ....I'm grabbing at straws

Maybe the PCM switches from 12+ to ground to fire the coil who knows i have never tested these wires myself

you wont be able to see a ground on that wire with a multimeter it pulses too fast
and it wont go to ground unless the engine is running either

You could however check for a break in the wire between the coil and the PCM

unplug the PCM and the coil and find the dark blue/tan wire on the PCM side (should be the 3rd pin in the 2nd connector according to my service manual) and check for continuity between that pin on the pcm side and the same wire at the coil pack connector

funny you should mention a break ...lol...I tore into the wires last night and found a break in the dark blue and tan wire about 8 inches from the pcm .... thanks for your help donald7150

yes i have a simular problem, but mine is with cylinders 1&4, but i do have spark at the plugs, but for some reason, cylinder 1, only fires minimal, and cylinder 4 is a complete dead miss, but when i check the plugs and wires, and coil they are all good, and the spark plugs fire, when i ground them to the motor, but when they are in, idk, and drivablity sucks, as it is only driving on two cylinders. numbers 2&3.

When I checked my wired it looked like they had been pinched and corroded in two over time... you may have a similar problem ... good luck i have had a couple other electrical problems with mine and plan on sending it down the road when find a buyer.
