Hey guys, My search has led me here. I have a 1972 b20 Sportsman Royal Van. This is my everyday work van. I just spent half of today running around to all the auto part stores carrying my brake rotor. All of the stores carry or can get the caliper and pads but no one lists a rotor. Have any of you 72 owners run into this problem and might know where to get a rotor. A second question if anyone might know, what causes a clanging noise in the rear differrential when backing up - going forward I have no problems. Thanks in advance for any help. Strap72

Clanging? That would be Ujoints. These vans can be very tough on Ujoints. Replace both the front and the rears and keep them lubed. Probably want to have the drive shaft checked for balance as well. The job should run around $75-$100 if you take the shaft in yourself. Also, always replace the straps when you put the shaft back in.
I've had plenty of experience with D shafts and I've actually had 2 drop out while driving. Glad it was at the rear and not the front. Either way, if it happens to you, it will scare the hell out of you.
Sorry, can't help with the other problem.

AutoPartsGiant has them. http://www.autopartsgiant.com/
You didn't specify your engine size so I looked them up based on a 318. Don't know if that will make a difference or not, but I doubt it.
I will check the u-joints out tonight. Thanks for the info on the straps - I always just replaced the joints and if the straps were still in one piece I just reused them. Strap72

I just checked the auto parts giant and they do indeed list them there. Thanks for saving me a lot of time looking. A big relief knowing that I will be able to get the old girl back on the road again. By the way you were right, engine size is 318 and she purrs beautifly even at 114,000 original miles. Strap72

35 years old with only 114k miles? That is one low mile unit.

Try this...take part# BD60403
to your local NAPA and ask them to cross it over. They should come up with either of these part numbers...NB 4885558 or UP 85558... I hate to see you deal with auto parts giant as they have alot of complaints logged against them including 2 from me.

You might have to mention that it is a "Wagner" part number.

Chump you are correct sir. I used them ONCE and while I did get the parts I asked for it took FOREVER to get them. Never again.
Welcome to the site Strap72! I also have a 72 Royal Sportsman, but mine is a Maxiwagon. Mine had front drum brakes, but I had a donor 77 that I used to get the spindles off of. I then ordered rotors, calipers, and pads for a 77. The style disc brake system you have is basically a "72 only" design that in 73 was changed to a more common design.
BTW, I only see the Wagner BD60403 as fitting 73-81 Dodge vans only.
