Will the sunroof still open and close? If its not, then the little tab that holds the cable to the slider probably broke off, its a common problem. The dealer will not sell you just the tab, or just that part of the slider. They'll make you buy the whole rail for around $200. You can look around for parts (there was a complete sunroof for $125 on neons.org last week...) or theres a 'how-to' on neons.org that will tell you how to modify a mirror hanger to fix the existing slider. Total cost is about $2 and it only takes a few hours.

I was actually wondering about this myself...
The original owner had sunroof problems like many others with my '99 neon and I think she was still under warranty when it happened. She went to the dealership and I guess they fixed it so it would close...(It was stuck open and making a ticking type noise...like it was trying to move on teh track but it was stuck)
Anyway they fixed it for her but basically told her not to bother trying to open it since it might leak and get stuck again, etc...
Can I get a new sunroof that's not an original but will still fit and not be hard to install?...obivously they didn't do so well with the sunroof's since I've seen posts about them so often, lol.
Not that I'm gonna do that any time soon but I'm just curious incase I decide to some day.
