This has something to to do with the EGR valve according to the code meaning. I can clear it out but it typically comes back on within a couple of weeks. I just noticed today while running the AC with it about 85 degrees out some pinging that I have not noticed before. Just wondering if anyone else has had this code before and if it is the EGR valve where is it on this vehicle? Is it expensive? Hard to replace? Thanks.

The EGR valve is not hard to replace and shouldn't be that expensive. I'm not familiar with your year, but the EGR valve on my '01 is on the front passenger side. It looks like a little flying saucer with a vacuum hose sticking out the top and should be attached to the exhaust manifold with a metal pipe that goes to the intake.

The EGR valve should have a plastic control solenoid/transducer next to it that is attached to a wire harness and also has vacuum hoses attached. You should inspect the wires that go to the transducer and make sure they are not cut or shorted (by melting on the exhaust for example.) If it's like my '01, the transducer and the EGR valve get replaced as a unit, so no need to diagnose as between the two. If the wiring harness looks good, replace the valve/transducer set up.

If you want, you can take the EGR valve off and test it with a hand-vacuum pump to see if it's opening and closing properly. Sometimes you can clean it up if it's just getting stuck, sometimes the diaphram is shot and it just needs to be replaced. Even if the valve works OK, this could be a problem with the solenoid/transducer too.

Hope that helps.
