Hey all I have been on this site for a while but i got out of the car scene for a while since i am only 16 but now am back :) . I have a 2001 Dodge Neon ES with the sports package.

1. Could u tell me what u know about the (Sports Package).

2. Today i went to go use my car and my passenger side rear caliper stuck and wouldn't release it self. Like when i pressed on the break the caliper piston wouldn't go back into the caliper. I think that i need a new caliper. Right now i have got the piston back in enough and to make it go back in and out enough so i can drive the car but the breaks are rubbing against the rotor. Could u give me any information about how to install a new caliper on my car.

:help: :help: :help:

thanks for the help and sorry for the speech :)

Check the brake line first. The rubber line could've collapsed on the inside, allowing fluid into the caliper to lock the brakes, but not allowing fluid to flow back out and release them. This has happened to me. Brake line is cheaper than a caliper. ;)

Dodge, I think what you are going to find is that you have installed your calipers wrong. I'm talking from experience here, I have worked on a lot of different vehicles pulling the calipers off and such and my 2001 neon is the first car I have run across that you can actually install the calipers incorrectly and it will bolt back together. The first time I changed out my brake pads I had the same problem you are having and couldn't figure out why it was locking up and rubbing against the wheel. If you haven't disassembled your other caliper, pull the wheel off and look how it fits up there - then go install the other side. You could always go find a neon in a parking lot somewhere and look at it if you have disassembled them both. Good luck!

The sport package is just a package with a few sporty options. Like your wheels, rear spoiler, leather steering wheel, leather shifter knob, 4 wheel disk brakes, seat color, ect ect. I hate to inform you that it don't make it any faster than the rest. Yeah I know right! Bummer.

I have done my brakes a few times and my back ones need it again. Just make sure you get the thing back on the same way! I can't see where the 1st gen neons like mine are easy to put on wrong. must be a 2nd gen thing! Good Luck and buy yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual so that you got some reading material there when you do it the first time. Those manuals are life savers!!!

Dodge throws a "sport" package on everything now-days... Heck, can you even buy a Caravan that isnt a Caravan 'Sport'?

actually you can! you could i think as far back as the early '90s

The caravan SE had an available sport package that threw on fog lights, color coded everything on the exterior, nice wheels and after '96 a spoiler too
