I need to replace the front brakes and rotors on my Grand Caravan. The local dealer asked me if the REAR brakes were drum or disk. What difference does that make if I'm replacing the FRONT brakes and rotors? Don't tell me they are that different....

It's a different part number for front pads with rear disk versus rear drums.

X2 The system with rear disks is the premium system and is made by a different manufacturer. Completely different system=different pads for the front.

I figured it was something simple like that. Thanks for your input it was very helpful. It would have been really helpful if my local dealer would have had more than one rotor so I could have replaced BOTH brakes, although the extra set of pads is quite lovely to look at and make good paper weights.
