This advertisement was in Mopars own magazine, MOPAR, a few months ago.
Has anyone bought any of these parts or have any knowledge about them? Reading the ad leaves me very confused as to what these parts really are:
Are they OEM "original" replacement parts at a special low price?
Are they OEM parts which have been "remanufactured"?
Are they some cheapie aftermarket parts which Mopar is purchasing and putting their name on?
I guess I'm just not sure about exactly what is different about, say, a "Value Line" water pump and if you just went up to the parts guy and said "I need a water pump for my 2001 Ram Van" and made no mention of "Value Line"
Anyone have any light to shed on this. :help:
Thanx.

After reading the article I'm inclined to say that they remanufactured OEM parts. Note the last sentence of the second to last paragraph where it says, "but don't necessarily need new O.E. products."

Also the line in the second paragraph tells me that these are not OEM Mopar-built parts.
"In fact all Mopar Value Line products are designed, developed, and manufactured to Mopar standards...."

Yeah, I've pretty much reached the conclusion that they are NOT OEM brand new genuine Mopar parts. Whoever wrote that add chose their words very carefully and was intentionally vague as to what they really are. Maybe next time I'm at the dealer, I'll try to see if they have any of these "Value Line" parts in stock, and take a close look at them. I sure hope I don't see the dreaded "Made in China" anywhere on the box. :VHOT: :VHOT: :VHOT:

I've never bought any parts from the "stealer" unless it was some sort of part that could only be bought at the stealer...if you catch my drift.
I don't understand why they need a Value Line of parts anyway. Why not just make your OEM parts less damn expensive!!

Chrysler wants to Shed Mopar, Transport Units.
Wednesday, August 29th, 2007
AutoBeat Daily News, Detroit
Chrysler LLC has told the United Auto Workers union it intends to sell or shut its Mopar parts unit and Chrysler Transport, which delivers parts and supplies to the company's plants, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Unnamed sources tell the newspaper the UAW opposes divesting the two units, which employ nearly 1,300 workers. Chrysler might try to win the union's support by finding other jobs for those employees.
CEO Bob Nardelli noted earlier this month that Chrysler might seek to "monetize" some assets. Under the ownership of Cerberus Capital Management, the automaker is focused on cutting costs and boosting cash flow in the near term.

Nate,
I'm not sure what the deal is with either one of them. Most of the MOPAR parts are not even mad by Chrysler today anyways. The parts are only built to Chrysler's specifications.
