My kid is looking at a 97 avenger. What should we be looking for when checking out this car. What are some of the common failures. The car looks good from the outside but we haven't heard it run or driven it yet. The car has 115k miles. Thanks for the help!

4 or 6 cyl... manual or auto?

I have a 97 avenger with 136K miles. Car runs great. I drove to houston (200 Miles away) and back and got 39 MPG!! It was all interstate.
The only problem i have with the car is little things breaking. the doorhandles break on the outside. Twice my drivers side broke and once for the passenger. Lots of little items inside the car have broken, but nothing major.
I was thinking of selling it for a new car, but the mileage is too great considering the price of gas and the car is paid off. Not to mention the AC works fantastic!! Living in louisiana, thats a necessity to have.
