I have a 2005 GC SXT. We bought it used back in January w/no manual. Saw a couple of others with the power lift gate, but they were brand new. The stealership had no idea about power lift gates, etc.

Funny thing is, the interior of the van has the switch to operate a power hatch, as does my remote. Is it possible that there is a dead fuse somewhere?

Second, if it is manual, is there any way to convert it to power?

Thanks..

Open your liftgate and look at the upper left corner. Is there a little arm attached that goes into the D-Pillar trim and looks like it has some gears in there? If so, then you already have the power liftgate and the system will have to be diagnosed to figure out what is wrong.

If there is a failure in the system, the controller will just shut down the automatic door. When mine failed, it was because of a broken sensor switch in the latch that wasn't giving the right signal to the controller. For later years, I've read that there's a TSB that requires a software flash-update of the controller that will get it working again (if that's the problem in your case).

Thanks for your reply.

I don't see an arm back there attaching to the D-Pillar. There is a hose that connects from the liftgate to the top of the rim around the back, but that's it.

Also, I was mistaken. There is no switch inside.. There is on my remote, definitely, but not inside.

Guess I'll just have to live with the manual like I have for the last several months. Oh well. But thanks again..
