We bought a used 2005 Caravan (the one with NO extras) in April and starting in June the warning signal has dinged without a warning light coming on the dash 4 or 5 times. This doesn't happen when you start the van, it's always while the van is being driven, and it can go weeks without it happening. All the lights look fine when the van is started. I took it to the dealer for the airbag sensor recall today and the service guy was clueless. He recommended setting up an appointment to have the van checked out, but with 2 small kids and the van having the carseats it very hard for me to just drop it off for "a while", especially when the closest dealer is 45 min. away. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Was it a single ding? That happened to me because I had a bad door which momentarily would move just enough to trigger the sensor and warning sound. It could happen going over a bump for instance.

Yes, it is only one ding, but neither the door open nor the hatch open lights came on. The first time it happened on the highway on the way home from running errands, so there had been several stops--park van, run in store and back to the van to go to next store. That road was recently resurfaced and is still in good condition. Next time my husband was driving and we had just started to drive down the driveway and our driveway is paved and in good condition. After that it was on the way home after a few errands, but a different road, that road was brand new only open for a month or so and in great condition. The next two times were again driving home after a few errands and the roads were fine. I know it's not the low gas warning since when that one goes off the light comes on and goes off again when I start the van and the light stays on until I get gas. I keep trying to figure out if there is something the same when it happens and while it seems to happen on the way home after errand running, it has also happened when leaving the house so I am confused.

Try slightly opening the driver door when the van in gear and pay attention to the door ajar light and the ding. See if you get the same pattern, at least initially. YOur door jamb switch might have something loose.

I just posted the deals of my issue today under the thread ID 1963289 (can't seem to post a URL to it).
If you determine the answer to your problem I'd love to hear about it. Like wise if I find out about my problem I'll post an update under my thread.
Similar to your case mine happens here and there. Used to go for a few weeks with out a problem, now we are down to almost once a day. No warning light, just the warning bing.
Service guys can't find any error codes, computer scan shows no problems. They are gonna put a scanner on it while operating it to try and generate the warning sound. We'll see.

This is a bit of a long shot-because I can't remember where the door buttons are located, or if they are part of the hinge on this vehicle. but if you have door buttons on the door frame and I don't mean door handles, but buttons that usually have a rubber cover and are in the door frame not the door, pull that cover back enought to squirt some WD40 into the body of the switch, then push it several times on the theory that it will loosen up any corrosion in the switch. Start with the drivers door, if that does not solve it go to the next door until you cover them all. I seem to recall a particular problem with the closed door sensor on the sliders, so I'd check them carefully. Hope this helps.

there are no "door buttons" on these.
what you need to do is get your owners manual out and turn to the picture of all your lights on the dash. then turn the key to "ON" not start and not acc. all of the lights will be lit up make sure you have all of them lit.
the warning bing is to let you know that something is lit up on the dash. it is most commonly, low washer fluid, low gas, cel, seatbelt not attached, etc.
it could be also something is close to setting off a light like low windsheild washer fluid but the tone goes off first and then there is just enough to keep the light from coming on or it comes on and goes off so fast you don't see it!
