Hey everyone. I have been away for a long time because I have been busy getting ahouse built in northern MI. Last I was here I had just traded 05 RT in on 06 RT AWD. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the AWD and differances from 05 to 06. The 06 seems not to be as polished as 05 was. Just minor little things really but still noticable to a guy like me. When the ac engages for first time after a cold start it makes a clunk noise. the Engine makes a ticking noise under very slight acceleration(sounds a little lioke spark knock but I dont think it is). I swear I can feel the MDS kicking in and out on the new one too. I have put 16000 miles on it and was hoping the mpg would get slightly better but no change yet. I am able to get 21 at 70 mph where the 2wd could get 24-25. I expected to take hit in mpg and for me the security of having AWD in winter is worth it. Now that I am living "up North" I appreciate the little extra ground clearance as well. I got my oil changed after I had taken it to watch my friends mud bogging and the tech guy found a bunch of dried mud on the removable engine gaurd under there. He told me just because it was AWD that didnt mean I should be four wheelin it. I didnt actually four wheel it but getting in to where the guys were bogging was a bit tricky. :thatfunny What can I say it's just a car even if its a nice car and I dont baby it. I have said here before there are definately times when I miss my Jeeps. If I did not live in MI I would not recomend AWD. For one thing I cant see where it would do anything if you do not have the ESP off as you have to spin the back wheels a bunch in order to get the front ones to bite. Last winter I needed to turn off the esp to get moving on pretty slippery roads and yet it saved me from pushing the front end a couple of times on tight corners so I try and turn it back on at highway speeds. I do love the Magnum and I still have people aproach me and tell me they love it too. I think my biggest complaint about the Magnum would have to be the huge A pillar blind spots. At four way stops I have to lean way forward to make sure there is no one in the blind spot. The other day I dang near rear ended someone while we were making a left turn from a left turn light too. He was just far enough ahead of me to be in that blind spot and had to stop short for some kids on bikes and I didnt see him stopped until it was almost to late. We are talking very close here maybe a couple of inches. Now if someone asks to borrow it Itry and remember to tell them to be aware of the blind spots. Oh and if they normally drive Chevy's I warn them to be aware of the awesome HEMI power.
