figured it was either the switch or the motor itself (duh !)
anyone replaced the motor ?
The Van has power locks and power windows - locks still work and the pass. window still works ... just the drivers side is out

Ram? Let me guess, you use the window A LOT! Right?
While you got the door open, check the molding and channels while you're at it. The driver side is probably used daily, and it wears out the moldings. Also check the window wiper in the door too. This is usually the problem right off the bat. The motor is mounted with either 3 or 4 rivets(Grounding) which is easy to drill out and replace. Also check the switch for the usual corrosion.

RAM MAN -
If the motor is dead and its seen lots of use, odds are pretty good that the motor simply has worn out brushes. I'm not sure if they can be replaced easily or not on our vans, but after you pull it out, see if you can get access to the brushes. A buddy of mine had the exact same problem on a T-Bird years ago, and was able to find a new set of brushes for cheap and fixed it for almost nothing.

Hey RAM MAN,
I just stumbled across this thread and immeaditely thought of you. Its a "How To" on power window motor brush replacement. It's not specific for the vans, but I bet they are very similar.
