I'm looking to install a b&m shifter in my truck...i've got the 318 but need to know what tranny i have before i order...also, is this a hard install? I know there will be some cutting and things like that involved, but as far as hooking it up to the shift linkage? Thanks

Shouldn't be hard if you buy the linkage kit for a Chrysler. It'll either be a 727 or a 904 trans, 904 has a square pan.

Installation is easy..
You drill 4 holes to mount it & drill or cut a hole for the cable to go threw..

No need to buy anything but the shifter... (Everything you need is included)
And will fit both 727 & 904 Trannys..
My only suggestion is , If you also plan on replacing your carpet?...
Do it at the time you install your shifter, That way you don't have to mess with it again :D
Good luck..
& post some pics to keep us updated.. :)

Somewhere on here, Bruce (bherder) posted some picks of tranny pans, that told you what you had by looking at the pan.......But for the life of me I can't find them :(

:gr_patrio The 904 is basically a square pan and the 727 has a big lump or protrusion on one corner.

I have a 76 dodge w/ 318 and would love to put that shifter in my truck. Mopower said its easy but I see alot of parts in that pic. But hey if it is easy I may give it a shot as well. About how much do they run?

They run about $200.00 or so no matter where you buy it..
But now heres a little lesson in "Mega-Shifters" by B&M..
Theres a "Mega-Shifter" & a "Truck Mega-Shifter"...
The difference is ... The "Truck Mega-Shifter" is adjustable "height" wise & the base has to be cut accordingly...
And as far as all the "X-tra" parts they are for each and every Tranny included in the kit...
Only the FURD "A.O.D.", Requires any special parts..
You'll love it I swear!!!
Heres a pic of mine!!!
Notice I got rid of the "column" shift steering column & went with a Manual!!
PLUS!!! it's NHRA approved...
What else could you want???
Good Luck & Keep us posted!!!
Later Mopower!!
