All,
I have(had) an 85 D100 pickup that I gave to my nephew. The truck is having issues running - they think it is carb related. They are 250 miles away so I don't really have access to the truck.

It is a six cylinder. What is the manufacturer of the carb for that model? How can we find the model number on the carb?

Thanks
Alan

I owned a D100 with the slant six, had a Carter 1-barrel carb. on it, which I believe was typical. There may be a metal tag affixed to the carb. which has a model number. If not, have your nephew take a digital photo and post it online, I'll bet somebody can ID it.

What sort of symptoms is he experiencing? If you can describe the issue in some detail, we might be able to help narrow down the possibilities.

Thanks for the info - From the description it sounds like it just dies - almost like running out of gas. The only other thing that happened intermittently to me is that sometimes it would run extremely rich. There wouldn't be any power and black smoke out the tail pipe. The choke was open but it was like the choke was closed.

I rebuilt the carb before my nephew got it. It was rebuilt because the accelerator pump was shot.
