Chrysler Introduces New 'Best-in-Industry' Lifetime Powertrain Warranty
on Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge Vehicles
* The New Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty – the first from an OEM and the longest in the industry – is a statement of confidence in the reliability of Chrysler products
* Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system
* Provides worry-free ownership for new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge owners
Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 26, 2007 - Chrysler today announced that the Company would extend its powertrain warranty from the 3-year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty to a new Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty applies to most new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles purchased from dealer inventory and delivered on or after July 26, 2007.
The Lifetime Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system. The new powertrain warranty is limited to the first registered owner or retail lessee. Customers should contact dealers for details on vehicle selection.
"This new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is a statement of confidence to our customers to the reliability of their powertrain. It's peace-of-mind reassurance for as long as they own the vehicle," said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President – North America, Sales and Marketing, Service and Parts, Chrysler Group.
To continue warranty coverage, the owner must have a powertrain inspection performed by an authorized Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer once every 5 years. This inspection will be performed at no charge. The inspection must be made within 60 days of each 5-year anniversary of the warranty start date of the vehicle.
Landry added, "The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty underscores our focus on quality and customer satisfaction. It demonstrates our commitment to customers and the confidence we have in our ability to produce quality, reliable and durable vehicles. That's why we put 'lifetime' on it."
Customers may visit Chrysler.com, Jeep.com and Dodge.com for more information. A warranty promotion – print, radio, television and Internet – begins Friday, July 27.

That was my thoughts too. If your buying a new rig this a great thing. I wish I had the better warranty myself, but I don't think I got the shaft.

The latest word on the warranty is the owner must maintain a STRICT maintenance schedule.
So for those who don't follow maintenance schedules, the warranty will be worthless.
I wonder what "hoops" owners will go through if they do their own maintenance?
Regardless, this is a great program!!

that would suck if one of the requirements would be that your maintenance has to be performed by Dodge. Eh, My car came with lifetime maint on our vehicle. So I just go to the dealership and they perform the maint. Though when we go Mobil 1, I have to pay the extra cost.

I got an idea from a poster named "Digitalink" at ALLPAR.com. He said send a letter to Chrysler and say you're going to possibly trade your car in for a Ford. Like he said it can't hurt. I didn't explain myself very well,This is to complain about the warranty that we didn't get by buying our cars too early.

I would start, if you have this pgm, by keeping a log of everything you do to the car. I do this so I can remember when I checked the plugs, changed oil, etc. I anticipate they also stipulate how long an oil drain interval you can run. Best way around that would be to do oil analysis...

All manufacturers come up with gimmicks to sell their products.
If we all were concerned of this we would buy new cars every year!
I'm not fazed @ all. 2 1/2 years I will trade in & get what's offered then!
To think we got shafted by Chrysler is like the parents that sue...
car companies for their kids getting killed by air bags when they belong in back seats.
Or idiots on cell phones that cause accidents & then sue offers for it.
Enjoy what we have while we have it. Life is to short for regrets!

I propose that we all start calling Daimler Chrysler and start complain and bring up customer loyalty and anything else that can be thought of. How I see it is there should not be a difference in the vehicle warranty based on a purchase date on the 2008's. Mine was purchased on 7/22/08.
The number my customer rep gave me was 1-800-992-1997, and I am going to call til I get the warranty or my cell phone dies, and i thank my cell will die first. But worth a shot.

Thanks for the right number to call,That saves alot of us some trouble.

I don't feel I got the shaft. I've got my avenger for 3 years (lease) and it's got the 45,000 mile warranty and they do all service on it for free... At the end of my lease, who knows what I'll get... I'd love a Challenger! And I'd bet that Chrysler still has the lifetime warranty then, too!
I am glad that they did a warranty like this. I am so sick of the imports saying they are so much better than domestics, and now finally Chrysler can come back and say that as the only domestic car company that has the best warranty! What other company has that? I think Hyundai, and that's it!
Way to go Chrysler!

I've always been a FORD fan, until about 2 years ago. I started getting disenchanted with Ford and their lack of vision in their designs so I started looking around for another manufacturer that had the designs and character that I liked. Dodge and Chrysler had my attention and they keep impressing me all the time. The only thing I hate about the chrysler/dodge vehicles are the interiors... They are really cheap feeling inside.
I wanted the 300C SRT, but decided on the Avenger R/T because it was $14K cheaper than the SRT I wanted. lol
All that being said, I decided to jump on the Avenger when they came out with the lifetime warranty. It was just the extra little push I needed.
So far I'm happy with my purchase.

This move makes warranty service CHEAPER overall for Chrysler. They're saving money. It's not transferable to the next owner, so if you sell it say after only 1 year of ownership, it has NO WARRANTY. It does not cover non powertrain parts. Anyone can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed. The only way this helps is if you like to keep your cars 30 years, the rings and seals and bearings are bound to wear out eventually. The body, well that's your problem. Last I heard it was not available in Canada but that could have changed by now for all I know, and for all I care. All the Chrysler dealers around here went out of business anyway. It's a gimmick, and there's nothing wrong with that, but in real terms if you buy a car brand new and keep it the average amount of time, all the different carmakers' warranties are getting you pretty much the same protection. I can never afford brand new cars, nor am I willing to bear the depreciation and ridiculous freight charge of a new car, so no matter what it really makes no difference to me what they do, except now I know not to buy a used Chrysler that had that warranty.
