I've got a 1980 d250 with a 360 and I'm trying to put an aftermarket temp guage on it. The problem is that I can't figure out what size either of the two little plugs on the front part of the intake manifold are. 1/4 drive is too small and 3/8 is two big. Do a need a square 5/16 drive or is there a special tool for this?

They make pipe plug sockets to fit those, you may have to buy a whole set though. I have a set of S&K's, like these : http://www.skhandtool.com/Default.aspx?fusemode=10&pid=41450

Yow!!! $11.00 each??
I think I'd just buy a .99 cent 3/8" 'Made in China' 3" extension and grind it down ... ;)

I guess so, but... If it's a tool I'm gonna use all the time, I'll pay the $$ for a 'good' one..... Something like this, how often do you pull plugs from an intake manifold? I'd still grind down a 'cheap-o' socket extension... ;)

Lol, yeah well I mechanic/junkyard for a living, or at least half my living. The other half is made at the horse farm :) And no, I don't have to pull or install no plugs there, unless it's on one of the tractors or farm trucks :D

It's only 'Pedro' if you 'fix' it like 'Pedro'....(Like a sheetmetal screw in an oil pan) ... Forming a tool, to fix/do something you may only do once every ten years.....
THAT's called "Good ol' AMERICAN Ingenuity and Knowhow"....
Pedro knows nothing about this. That's why THEY are coming here, and not vice-versa....
Then and also again, they love Chebby's. THAT says it all.....
