HI,

I accidentally touched the pos/neg posts with a cable. The van was running at the time. When I shut it off and went out later to restart it there was nothing. No power to starter/coil.

No visible damage to fuseable links behind brake booster...is there a module or something else you can suggest? The starter switch points, when pushed together will turn over the starter but still no spark.

This can completely discharge a battery. What type of van and what year?

The van is a 1991 B350 1 ton 15 passenger. It came with a 318 originally and has a 360 now.

The battery has lots of charge...could something have gotten all the way to the ECM?

When I pulled the plastic covers off my steering column, and separate the plug below the key, I can manually jump the leads to get the starter to crank but still no spark. My fuel pump is activated as I can hear it.

Any thoughts? I'm trying to trace the wires back from my coil. It appears they go to the ECM on the firewall?

Should be one gray wire and one black wire with gray tracer. Gray wire is ASD relay output. Black w/gray wire is coil driver. Gray wire should have battery voltage. Black wire should have a pulsating ground as the engine is cranked.

No voltage in grey wire. Where is ASD relay (what does that stand for)?

The ASD (Auto Shut Down) relay is on the driver's side of the firewall underneath the bulkhead connector.

By bulkhead connector do you mean where the main harness attaches via the connector through to the interior of the vehice?

I found a relay under that but unless the grey wire is changed to a diff colour there is no grey wire...it has red (with voltage), 2 blue and a green with a black tracer all similar in size, then a smaller blue wire with an orange tracer. The blues seem to head over to another relay. The green with black seems to head to the carb area.

If this is the relay can two wires be bridged to see if voltage goes to the coil?

I have voltage to my coil when the key is in the on position for about one second until the ASD clicks, then no power. Something is triggering the ASD. Must be a short somewhere. Can this be bypassed somehow?
