Im broke . I have to many toys and not enough room.. Me and my wife are lookin to buy a house soon.. So with the reasons being out there how much do you guys think my trucks worth in its current condition? 360sb 3spd auto 4wd
The bad: bad rod bearings.Has alittle rust above the rear wheels but all in all the trucks pretty solid.
The goods :

Inside is in perfect shape no dash cracks
New Seat cover
Bumper slider
Roll bar for the bed

6inch lift
The truck was the previous owners toy and project so it has some differntial goodies but i dont know the specs . I know that it acts like it ha welded diffs..

Sides of he bed are real strong no sagging or flexing.

Hmmmmmmm I have no idea about that part of the country. If you haven't done much to it yourself since you bought it, it seems to me that you should be able to get what you paid for it...........On the other hand if you have put a lot of money into it, then you might be able to recover some of that as well.
However, my experiences have always been that you can never recover what you think it is worth :)

Yeah I know.. Im thinking its worth like 1,500 atleast thats what it would take for me to let it go.. But Im the kind of person that doesnt settle for less Id just assume let it rot and piss my wife and neighbors off some more.. :)

Ohhhhhhhhh I think it should be worth $1500 anyway, but who knows. I guess it depends upon the demand for off road trucks in that area. Of course, me not being a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, I would personally stay away from it because of the rod bearings. On the other hand that wouldn't bother a lot of guys that are mechanically inclined.
Gooooooood luck on selling it Pardner

Honestly, I'd say put it up for 3000 and see what happens. I'd be willing to bet, as good of shape as it's in and w/ the wheels/tires, lift, lockers, and decent interior, somebody would probably give that for it. Especially if they're from up north, cause there's not much rust at all on it.

Try ebay. People pay way too much for stuff there :D
Also when school starts up again, park it in front of the local high school with a For Sale sign. AutoTrader?
(Although I love the idea of keeping it, just to piss the neighbors off... :D ... My neighbors, back when I had neighbors, used to love me when I ran my 340 Duster with the headers uncorked :D )
The only thing that would make me hesitant as a 'buyer' would be the worn rod bearings. How bad are they? Can you hear them knocking?? IMHO, that is what is going to make/break a deal and/or how much you can get for it...
If they're not real bad, you might want to change the oil out with some 20-50w and a couple of cans of STP (Yeah, I know it's "Pedro" and not completely honest, but....) On the other hand.... If it means getting another $1500 on the sale, it might be worth your while to spend a few $$ and put new bearing inserts in....
Yeah it has a bunch of hi-po goodies on it, but if a buyer comes along, and it's got a rod-knock... Well.......
(Rick, I've been through Springfield. It's flat, with a good-sized river running through it, and once you hit the city limits, it's nothing but corn as far as the eye can see :D .... I love corn :D :D :D )

Youse guys are amateurs..... You wannna REALLY screw someone over good? (SAWDUST shows up on the dipstick) This is what you do....
Got an old leather belt? (Like what goes around your britches?) You drop the pan, remove the offending/knocking bearing(s) inserts, cut out pieces of the belt just long enough to replace the bearing inserts (Helps to punch a hole in the one so it gets SOME sort of oil to it) and button er' back up. It'll run as quiet as a brand new Cadillac.... For about 2-300 miles.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Some of the old timers around here used to use the leather shoe tongues on the old cars with poured babbit bearings. They'd last 2 to 4 weeks around town. I don't remember if they had zippers on the oil pans or not. :gr_patrio

Yup... If your gonna sell it, and it means getting twice what you may get otherwise.... Bearing inserts are fairly cheap. (AND you could honestly, lawfully, advertise the engine as 'rebuilt' .... Not 'remanufactured', but 'rebuilt')
The only prob(s) with this is... New 'tight' rod bearings... Worn mains. You'll still get low oil psi.. Plus, you'll get most of the oil going to the mains (Loose) and probably starve the new rod bearings (Fluids, like electricity, follow the path of least resistance) The only way to do it semi-right would be to replace the main bearings as well.... If the new rod bearings are starved for oil, they ain't gonna last to long....
Prob '2' is, if you've had rod-knock, the journals are probably not very 'round' and possibly scored. (We're only talking .002-.003 here..) Replacing ALL the bearings is only going to buy you some time.(BUY some TIME) Maybe enough time to make a 'sale', but sooner or later that 'out-of-round' journal is going to catch and spin a bearing... Yikes.
Basically, it's gonna be up to you... If you wanna spend a few $$ and make the engine look 'good', get some more $$, even when you know it's half-assed ...
Up to you ;)

Ive looked around on ebay and with my luck I probally wouldnt get over $500 Ive posted it locally on some internet boards but have gotten little interest . SO Ill more then likely just keep the old beast and just wait until I can get my hands on another engine.. 360 heads on a 318 will it make any difference or not?

Yeah, IF the engine is built enough.. (360 heads... bigger ports and bigger valves) .... On the other hand ....
If your going to keep yer rig (Just to piss the neighbors off, I know ;) ) and you plan on sooner or later dropping another engine in it, why not go with a 360? Of course it means harmonic balancer/tourqe converter change also, but it's a 'built-in' 40 cubes. Doesn't sound like much, but with the other hi-po goodies you've got, it will really 'wake up' yer rig :D
But I know your hurtin' for $$ right now, which is the whole reason for even considering selling your beloved ol' girl....
Hey, maybe you could go be one of those 'Ice Road Truckers' up near the artic circle in Canada... They make $60-70,000 in two months!
Or maybe slip on a grape in the local grocery store and sue them??....
How about going down by where Rick lives and becoming a 'Coyote'? I hear that pays well....
Or maybe you could come here to The Great White Northwest and be a logger? You take the chance of getting killed about every 30 seconds or so, but the pay is GREAT....

If you want to try a little farther try Miller Salvage and Towing Mulkeytown, Illinois-618-742-4425. I know they had at least one a short time ago. They are near DuQuoin, about 12 miles west of interstate 57, exit 71. It was in a 72 Dodge, C body. Also was a 2bbl engine.
