Well i picked up this old 77 power wagon up for around 1500 smackers. She started right up made the ride home nice, of course the 6 inches of play in the steering wheel and falling on her butt when you give her a little gas made me excited to get to work on it. The information from who i bought it from is a little confusing so i thought some of you guys could give me your opinions and give me some more solid ground to stand on. Took it to the dealer just to save me some time n money and well they approved that the gauge is truthful at 60,000 miles. Vehicle id #: W24BE7S115591. its got the 318 two barrel, i was told it was a full one ton military surplus. Which is does have the old convoy lights and the military tags pop riveted into the dash. I am looking to put new suspension, intake manifold, carb(4 barrel) Along with exhaust and the wiring is an absolute nightmare. I plan for MSD ignition and id like to have my carb n intake edelbrock. If any of you would be willing to give me your opinion i would love to hear from yall. I don't know to much about dodge, but i have discovered parts are a little hard to come by in my small town. Any suggestions on Tires and rims, along with any other parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

First of all, pics or BAN! :) Sounds like a nice truck. I think you can fit 32"s on it w/o having to lift it. 4bbl and intake are cheap from Summit Racing.

(Hey Speed.... I think he needs a few more posts under his belt to posts pics... ;) )
Hey there mcc ... Welcome to the club!
I think I'd address first things first before all the hi-po goodies. As you said, " wiring is an absolute nightmare" .... Our ol' Dodges have some very weak points in the electrical that need to be addressed so as to keep your rig running. (Let alone catching fire)
You might want to do a through tuning and testing (i.e. compression/leakdown/etc) of the engine to find out exactly what kind of shape it's in...
And a through going over of the drive train, anything with seals in it, brakes and of course your steering... (The good thing about 4x4's is the steering is about as complicated as an over-grown go-kart :D )
A complete change of fluids (Oil, tranny, differentals, transfer case, brake, coolant) might be in order. You may find you didn't need to, but at least you'll know it's new and it gives you a starting point.
In fact, you may spend a lot of time taking things apart to see what kind of shape it's in and find nothing wrong, but at least you'll know it's OK and there will be no surprises ;)
Ahhhh! The joys of buying a 30 year old truck! :D :D :D

First welcome to DodgeTalk.Sounds like a nice truck.
The VIN# breaks down as a 1977 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive,reg cab with a 318 engine.The GVW is 6,001 to 10,000.It was built at the Warren,MI plant #1.
Maybe this will help some.

That's an M880 military vehicle. It is almost identical to the 77 W200 except for colors and very few other options. You can order parts for a 77 W200 and they will fit perfect. The military classified these as 1.25 Ton trucks. Do a Google search for M880 and you will find a number of sites for some info.
