Ignition key tumbler replacement

A friend's car was broken into-- the crook forced the ignition cylinder, broke the housing and badly damaged the tumbler. He wasn't able to steal the car because of the sentry key system though (obviously he wasn't that bright as he moved the SKIM out of the way so he could do all this.)

Anyway, my question is about replacing the tumbler. If we buy a new one, how do we get it to fit his existing keys?

I think you can request a switch matching a key code tho.

Build a new lock cylinder to the key code on the vehicle invoice, using the instructions in the Pentastar Service Equipment SR-706059 Lock Cylinder Build Kit.
