More than likely Canada only?
No one in US has received a recall or call from dealer.
I called mine & they have no clue of where this is coming from?

Just got my mailed recall notice from Chrysler last week. It is an air-pollution part that locks the trans into 2nd gear. I had this happen once!
The trans also locks up if the trans has a malfunction. It locks itself in second gear so you can "limp" into a dealership for service. When this occurs every "check engine" in the world will turn on. In my case I had no "check engine" light.
After I stopped and turned-off the engine and then restarted the car, the problem went away and hasn't returned.
I will definitely get my recall done!
Don't we all love air pollution devises?

Well I bet you'll be glad when that's over! lol Well I remember years ago when I first looked at my Daytona and seen all the extra stuff map sensors, etc. I said "Gone are the days when you could easily and cheaply replace a certain part".

Don't get me wrong... I love my Avenger... but since I hit about 3000 miles, mine is "chugging" at about 1500 rpms, specifically when I remain at about 35 mph. Seems like it wants to shift but doesn't?!? It has been in and out of the dealer a ton of times and NO ONE can tell me what's wrong with it. In fact, I've pretty much been told it's just me. Gotta love that. I was hoping that the latest recall was going to fix it. It didn't. So I'm pretty much banking on just being screwed.
SO... for those of you who haven't had any problems - Good for you!!! I'm jealous :)

Which speed transmission are driving? I'm curious. I don't think I've seen whether the people with trouble are driving the 4 or the 6 speed transmissions. What I mean is they don't say whether they have either one. Or is it mostly SXT's or the SE's? I know SXT''s have 4 speed also, But I want to see if there's a certain group that's being affected like SXT's etc.

Thanks for replying. Mine is a 2.7 V6 SXT. I'm right under 6000 miles on it. It seems the most noticable at about 35 mph.

I have a SXT, 2.7 and mine does the same thing. The trans is about to lockup (which means it stops slipping and therefore saves you gasoline) and that is what you feel. This is a design gremlin in the vehicle. Once the trans locks up at 40-43 mph, the noise goes away.
I think Dodge has the computer set to lockup the trans a little too early, which causes this noise. Dodge is trying to get maximum miles-per-gallon from the Avenger.

I haven't asked whether it's a 6 or not. I think at ALLPAR.com there's people also. I hope real soon everyone with problems will have NO problems lol P.S. That's twice that link didn't show up. Well she's the girl that said she bought a new Avenger. Oh boy,At least I think it's a girl! lol

So are there adjustments that the service folks can do to fix it??? Or is it something I just have to live with until I buy a different car?

It is no big deal to me. I have a customized exhaust and love to manually go through the gears so I can 'hear-the-pipes.' So when I'm not eating or drinking (coffee & pop!!) in the car I manually shift.
If you keep the trans in a lower gear until 40 mph, you will never hear the chugging.
