Dome light Door Chime issue

Hi All
Please help if you can. I have an issue in connection with my drivers door and the accessories attached to it. The dome lights, key warning chime and headlamp warning chime will not come on when I open the door. The dome lights do work with the switch on the dash and when any other door is opened. Also, when the car is off and locked up, the dome lights will go on and off by themselves and eventually run the battery down. It acts like a relay issue but I do not know where it is located. I have the car sold to my sister and need to deliver it to get paid. Any ideas?????

It sounds more like a grounding problem. Probably in the door switch. Take that apart, clean the switch and the door (it is probably rusty/corroded), apply dielectric grease to the switch, and reinstall.
