I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan that just had the outer tie rod ends replaced today, was told the inner ones were not bad. I now notice a terrible noise when I turn sharp to the left, or right. Funny thing is I didn't hear that noise before the outer tie rod ends were replaced. When your sitting still and you turn the wheel, it vibrates the van. Anyone know what this noise could be?
Thank you!

Sounds like maybe the rack is hanging up or the power steering pump possibly.

What is the rack? My husband was thinking it was something to do with the power steering.
Thanks

he is referring to the power steering rack and pinion
My old '98 does the same thing, most noticable when driving at slow speeds like in a parking lot
i'm told its caused by the power steering lines touching the body of the van

We had this problem with our 2002. It was still under warrant when it occured (about 20K Miles) so we took it to the dealership and they took care of it. I don't remember specifically what the problem was but can look into it for you if you want. \

actually you will get that noise for a number of reasons, they all boil down to the airation of the power steering fluid. if you push the wheels side to side with the vehicle not running and up in the air (like when replacing tie rod ends) it will cause the fluid to aireate and that noise will result. as long as your fluid is still full, give it a couple of days and it will probably go away.

It would be nice if you can look into it. The noise hasn't gone away yet and it's been a month, or so.
