HI,
new to this forum, got a 1964 dodge A-100 van in really good condition, no rust new clutch, and new carb. I just phurchased it recently from someone. Here is my questions:
can you drive these vans on the highway or freeway?
is there anything I should know about while driving them?
do you guys drive yours or just store them for the weekends?
thanks guys. :gr_patrio

You won't need to go to the gym on the weekends, since you have armstrong steering and less-press brakes.
They can be driven on the freeway once you get in shape and fix any loose parts in the steering and check the brakes and tire pressures.
Eventually you could change the rear axle ratio to slow the engine down..This would help with noise along with carpet on the floor.

thanks man,
how would I go about checking the steering to make sure its tight? I really like the car and its awesome to drive. The guy I bought it from drove it from PA to WA and then shipped it down here to hawaii.

What engine does the van have? 170 slant six or 225 slant six?
Generally you don't want more than 2" of slop in the steering before the wheels turn. There is an adjustment on the steering box to take up some slack, but you want to make sure, especially on an A-100, that the tie rod ends and drag link are in good shape. Another thing that can cause slop are worn king pins and loose wheel bearings.
I've had many A-100 vans and one A-100 pickup and I used to drive them as daily drivers for years. I plan on getting another one one of these days.
