I have a problem with my ’95 Grand Caravan ES front door hinge mount area. The sheet metal next to the lower hinge on both front doors has started to crack. Has anyone fixed this problem? What was the fix and did it last? Weld? Epoxy?
Thanks
Scott

Wife's Chrysler Lebaron did that.. Took it to a body shop and they fixed it.. Said it was a common problem and easy fix but don't know exactly how they fixed it. Would guess welded it up, aligned the door and re-painted.

DUCT TAPE!!!!!!
just kiddin. take a piece of sheet metal about maybe 6" x 6" cut to the size you need get a hand riveter (pretty cheap about $5 or $10) drill some holes at the apropriate size(to fit the rivets) . rivet the sheet meatal the door frame. it take very little skill, and no time at all. the only tools you need are tin-snips(also fairly cheap) the hand riveter and the sheet meatl i mentioned earlier. you can paint it up if you like, but if its in the door frame noone will ever see it. i never pay someone to do something that i can do myself. plus once you get in there and get it done, youll be kicking yourself if you paid someone to do it then realized how easy the job was that you just forked out $200 for.

Update:
Our Caravan got bumped by a dolt that wasn't paying attention while my wife was stopped at a stoplight. While it was in the body shop getting the rear bumper repaired, I asked about the hinge area.
They bent a piece of metal into an L shape and welded it into the door jam to reinforce the area, adjusted and welded the hinges to the pillar. $200 for both sides.
The doors haven't closed that good in years. If it lasts as long as stock original, it should be 10 years or more before I need to worry again and I really don't think it will still be around then.
My wife has told me its time to go backwards, she wants a 1967-8-9 Barracuda notch back. Anyone know of a V8 Barracuda with A/C that isn’t a rust bucket for sale in So-Cal that’s not too expensive? Yea I know, you can stop laughing now!
She wants something I can fix instead of the computer controlled smog tested newer car that we have now.
I’m thinking a '68 convertible, 318, Edelbrock fuel injection, 360 heads, 340 cam, 2 ¼ “ duals with X pipe and ’71 Imperial muffs (if they will fit under an A body), 727, 2.94 8 ¾ with a small Paxton, sway bars, high rate Tbars, KYB shocks… Could be fun!
