I resently replaced my battery in my 2002 Caravan. After doing so the radio no longer functions. The screen is blank and none of the buttons work, with the exception of the equilizer (treble, and bass) sliders that flash constantly. The lights blink untill I open the door just as the radio would continue to play.
I thought that there is an anit theft feature but when i talk to the dealer they say that there isn't
Does anyone have a suggestions?

you may end going to the dealer and have them reset the BCM , most of the electronics are controlled by the bcm . You could try resetting the bcm again by pulling the IOD fuse under the hood in the pdc .

The radio is not controlled by the BCM
the IOD fuse trick wont do anything
The dead radio with EQ lights quick flashing is caused by a microprocessor failure in the radio and cannot be repaired. always results in replacing the radio
I have seen this a hundred times, and it usually happens when the vehicles battery has been replaced or the vehicle has been jump started with another vehicle or a battery charger capable of high amperage output used for boost-starting vehicles

I have a spare tape deck that came with the van. Is it a componenet that i would be able to swap out the original tape deck and put it in the CD player?

Should be able to swap it no problem
as long as the connectors match up
sometime in the 2002 model year they changed both the wiring harness connector from a black and a grey connector to one larger grey connector, and the antenna connector

Hey its a cheap try , the radio has 2 direct inputs right to the IOD fuse and the bcm controls the dimming of all the lights on the radio. You may be right but if pulling the IOD for 5 minutes fixes it he would be ticked . The radio does have feeds from the IOD fuse . Anything is possible with chrysler electronics . A few quotes from a different forum .

I also have the problem with blinking eq lights. Did anyone ever find out the cause and even more important, the cure? I have no radio for now, and am getting ready to purchase another one, but I would rather keep the factory one if I can.
Thanks
don't know if this will help or not but guy who said disconnect neg terminal was right ,i did this for 20 sec and now radio works fine

Well i havn't found a code to reset the tape deck but i did switch out the the CD and put in the tape deck. It works no problem!!! So it must be something with the deck.
I checked out the CD deck and can't find anything wrong with it (other then it dosn't work). All PCB's seems to be ok.

Exactly what I said before
These radios fail quite often in this same manner, the flickering EQ lights issue is a microprocessor failure in the radio and cannot be repaired, also the radio is not connected to the BCM or any other control module in the van in any way (except of course if you have steering wheel mounted radio controls)
