I notice that there aren't any discussions in here about stratus r/t's that have the 2.7l engine. They are quite capable and as I search the internet for more enhancements for truck I notice that there is quite a bit of perfomance products out there for the stratus. I think the R/T is a sharp little car; a sleeper if you will, so let's get some dicussions going on this. Anyone seen any at a dragstrip or car show decked out? I seen one that was running 15 second passes at the dragstrip in Albuquerque and beating stock gt's. It was running on the bottle but hey it maybe cheating but you have to appreciate their enthusiasm for performance regardless of how you get to the 1/4 mile line.

I have to admit, I'm considering getting a Stratus Coupe RT instead of the Ram listed in my sig to replace the Stratus I have now. The coupe RT's got the 3.0L V6, so it's got plenty of power to start, and I think the coupe looks a lot better than the sedan. Does anyone know the performance numbers out of the RT coupe? That would definately help me decide which way to go. Also what kinds of performance upgrades are there for the V6, and are they easy to get?
Thanks :drivingz:

There are plenty of them but they are not here. On the main club for the 2nd generation Stratuses and Sebring sedans we have quite a handful of Sedan R/Ts. The R/T's are a little better than the regular sedans supension is firmer and a suppose retune of the computer for the R/T. We don't have too many parts out for the 2nd gens. We have one guy that is making us parts and we are trying to get Fastman to do us a TB but its taking forever. If you ever want to check out what I have on my strat just check the links in my sig.

Some of the performance figures on the R/T are 200 HP, 205 TQ. From what I have heard, the manual is really good and can do some impressive stock 1/4 mile passes, around 15-15.5 seconds without too much of a problem. The automatics are slower and do it from 16-16.5 seconds. Also, the R/T is very good at accelerating at high speeds. Car and Driver (I think) did a test a while ago with the Monte Carlo SS, R/T, and Mustang GT, and the Stratus had the best 50-70mph time of somewhere around 4 seconds and the GT had 5 seconds or something like that. I have read a lot of other forums that the R/T can keep up with GT's and Camaro's at higher speeds until a certain point.
As for performance parts, I think there are some nice mods that can be done like CAI, exhaust, and the best mod is a RIPP supercharger. Some people with the RIPP have had some very respectable 1/4 times. A really good site for all Stratus' is www.2gstratus.org Hope this helps out.

I have an '03 Stratus Coupe R/T with the automatic and AutoStick. The AutoStick doesn't really help performance it's more of a novelty. The best thing about the car is how the car handles. It feels like it's on rails when you take an exit ramp. I have never checked 1/4 mile times but it gets up to 100 mph very quickly ( entering the expressway ). And from 60 - 125mph seems effortless. I don't think there is a speed limiter on these cars.

Roadhawg - There is a limiter, but its right around 130-135 mph, and from what I have heard, the cars are still pulling very strong when it kicks in. Im sure that some company has a new computer for the R/T's which take out the limiter and everything, so I bet these cars can get going really fast with minimal mods.

Hey all. New to this forum, but thought I'd chime in. I got an '01 R/T 3.0 Autostick with Stage 1 Supercharger and many other mods. Check my sig link to see the rest. I can help a little with questions on performance. Haven't run the 1/4 mile in it yet, but I'm expecting low 14's on 91 oct. fuel. Also, this car is governed at about 134 mph. Rumor has it that the first run off the line wasn't governed, so if you have the 140+ ECU, don't eff it up! You'll never find another!

There's not much in the way of electronics for this ECU. It's very temperamental. There are stand alone e-manage systems available, but very pricey. Many people have used AFR's to manage the fuel.
As far as the governor...some of the Mitsubishi Eclipse ECU's don't have a governor on them. That would be the easiest swap.
There's a bunch of fiberglass kits and a few different style of fiberglass and carbon fiber hoods.
The best resource for 2nd generation stratus stuff is 2gStratus.org (http://www.2gstratus.org/)

there is a turbo kit available, but I don't know much about it. I'd recommend doing a search at 2gstratus.org. Also, one of the moderators there has his own business and is working on a new turbo setup as well as other modifications, including custom fabricated intake plenum, ported/polished stock plenums, bored throttle bodies, etc.

I know its been posted 4 a while but, the 3.0l v6 is governed at 132 mph, I found out the hard way with a friendly visit from " Papa Bear " on I-91 in CT. Swapping out the stock ECM with that from an Eclipse will not change this as both cars utilize the same Mitsubishi electronics. AEM does have controllers that can eliminate this "feature", also check out andysautoparts for other stuff.

Actually, the 2000 Eclipse GT 5 speed was not governed. I don't know if the AT was or not. They started using the governor in 2001 (1st year for R/T).
AEM and Greddy both have stand alone setups that would probably eliminate that as well.
