Hi, I'v got a 99 intrepid 3.2 that was coding p0123 so I replaced the tps, now the thing is coding p0122. It looked as if it would only go in one way, and I checked back with the auto parts store to make sure I recieved the right one. Anyone got any ideas?

There could be two causes for this.

It may be from just having the sensor unplugged with the key on.

If not that, they do bolt on only one way, but it is possible to get the tabs on the sensor--which the throttle plate drives, backwards.

Try clearing the codes and see if anything comes back. If so, try removing your sensor and seeing if it was installed backwards.

Thanks for your input, I've cleared the codes several times and it comes back. I will pull it back off and check the tabs. One other thing I noticed is that the cruise stopped working, now I'm wondering if I don't have a bad wiring connector somewhere, although that doesn't explain why the code would change.

The cruise relies on the TPS sensor. That could explain why it doesnt work. Check it out, and if you find nothing wrong, maybe you got a bum sensor from Autozone. Maybe have them swap it for another before looking into wiring issues.

Thanks, I took it off and compared it with the old one and they gave me the wrong one. They look similar and bolt on good, but they turn in oppisite directions. Oreilly's is supposed to have it in this afternoon. I'll let you know.

Ok, another new sensor did the trick. The number on the box was correct, but someone had switched sensors in the box, they looked similar and bolted up fine, but the first new one turned the wrong way. I had to take the origional one in and prove to them it wasn't right. thanks for your help
