Well i am at my wits end!
1986 Power Ram 360 manual 4spd
New 360 bored .030 (49 miles so far gets 6 miles per)
Holley Truck avenger 670
Lunati Cam .280/.290 with 278/288 Dur
Everything, and I mean everything else is stock including new A.I.Rs smog pumps, EGR. I wanted to keep her stock but with one step up in the balls dept.

Ok now the problem..the truck cannot seem to be timed. There are no leaks, vac or otherwise. When I get the thing timed with distrib unplugged it is all power and meat vac is 18. As soon as I plug in the ported hose back to the distrib, she lopes bad and vacume is steady at 12. i can set the idle at 750 still lopes carb is set 1.5 turns out on mixture. Choke as per Bherder instruct, I removed the resistor and it now has 12 V. Anyway the truck uses alot of fuel, smells like fuel and once started if shut off, will not restart until the starter is engaged for 15 seconds. Read in the forum that this may be due to a bad distrib.

Also, I bought this truck brand new on Dec 19, 1985, until this year the only other mods were 3" lift and last year I stripped a junker of the factory A/C and installed in mine. except for the stock ECG and a single ballast resist...there is no computer either on fender (10 pin conn) or on the air filter.

Thanks for your help

Sounds like you're plugging it into a full vacuum source instead of a ported vacuum source. Also, that's not much lift at all, you must have quoted the lift at the cam, instead of at the valve.

Ya sounded so to me but on recheck I have the Distrib connected to timed spark source on choke side of carb.

cam on valve is .420/.443

That sounds more like the proper lift. Try advancing the timing up to around 15-16, see if it gets better.

Well I pulled the distrib. Brian was right either bad bushings or bent shaft when it got hit as we were installing the motor. Got another ordered and on the way. Still a little concerned on the Carb....i was watching it and it is dumping way too much fuel through the primaries.
