what would happen if i removed my smog pump and sealed off the remaining holes? i do have a leanburn system on my 225 and i don't no if removing the smog crap would effect it (the leanburn). or even gas mileage for that matter. the smog pump is noisy and i do not have any emission testing in michigan so it's not needed. thanks, brandon

I'm guessing, nothing would happen.
When I first got my PW (79' 360) one of the first things I did was pull the smog pump off. Nothing changed.
Of course, I have a conventional ignition system also....
Try taking the belt off the smog pump and drive it around like that for awhile.
It shouldn't take too long to see if 'no pump' affects anything ;)

It'll be fine, it won't affect the lean burn at all.

It's a device, designed by The Dodge Boys, to drive the rest of us insane 20 years down the road. :D
(Naw, it was really an 80's attempt at sorta' quasi computer-emissions reduction, mpg boosting device. Carb-style. A real hunk of junk.)

Basically it's an early ignition computer, supposedly an evolution of electronic ignition and isn't bad when it works and when your engine is stock. They do tend to give problems though, and if you build up the engine it really needs to get replaced by regular old-school elec ignition.

just cut the belt off.... i did it on mine, it also makes it run better, but the reason i cut mine off was because it was making my truck back fire and blow flames out my exhaust pipes.
