i have 10vdc to the coil and no spark, but when i read the manual it says the resistance from the primary terminal to the secondary terminal should be in between 11,300 and 15,300 ohms, and it is 11,300. so it checks out, could it still be bad? also what is the normal resistance for plug wires?

thanks

Check the ballast resistor. 10v is too much at the coil.

if 10 volts is too much, wouldn't it still spark

Yeah it should. It doesn't try at all? You may want to change out the pickup, that could be bad.

Or the ECU has gone 'buns-up'.....

The more I think about this....

Is that 10v in the 'run' position, or in the 'start' position (Ignition switch)

In the 'start position' you should be getting full voltage to the coil (12-13v)
In the 'run', yeah 10v is a bit on the high side....
Just high enough that over a period of time you cooked the ECU (They're not meant to run at higher voltages for any kind of long period... Overheat and croak...)

If it turns out to be the ECU, I would definately change the ballast resistor... They're only $3-4 bucks..... And they are the only thing that drops the voltage down to what the ECU is comfortable with...
