So.. Here I am looking at the local paper & I see a local Garage is selling there "Optima" batteries for next to nothing.....( $100.00 )
So I go and buy one.... Next thing you know I'm "messing" with a perfectly good battery.... What is wrong with me???? :D
Long story short.... I bought a "Red-Top" Optima battery & there is absolutely nothing under my hood that is "red"...( other than the + batt. cable)
So in my infinite wisdom I decided to make it a "Blue-Top".. Tell me if I screwed-up or if I did good...
Anywho... Heres what I started out with.. A "run-of-the-mill" Optima "red-top"

And this is what I ended up with... A "Modified"... "Blue-Top"...
Tell me what you think.... & Be honest!!!.. Did I "VOID" the warranty for nothing or does it look good????
Laters,.. Craig

I went with blue because it would look better & match the rest of the engine compartment.. And I felt the red top would stick out like a "Turd in a punchbowl" :D ... C.I.O.

Looks good there! (I'm surprised the paint stuck .. ;) )

Why would it void the warrenty? Was there something way down at the bottom of the sticker that said "Warrenty void if painted" ? :D

No... Not at all...
But I can hear them now if I took it back in its present condition :D :D
I know they would say the paint was the reason it failed... ( If it should ever fail.. In the next three years)
btw.. the last one I had.. lasted almost 8 years... There awesome batteries 910 CA / 720 CCA & last forever... :rck:

Yeah, they ought to be for what they cost!!

Just out of curiosity, it must get pretty darn cold in NE. during the winter... How do those hold up during months of sub-zero temps?
(Up here, you're lucky to get 3 years out of a 7 year 'conventional' battery..)

We have one in the wifes jimmy ( going on 5 years now ) with no problems in the winter..
Then again its not a "cold-blooded" carbed Dodge either.. :D
In the last 4 years The only time I start the Wagon is about once every 2 weeks or so in the winter..
So i can't honestly say how they would hold up in sub-zero temps. on a daily basis..
But I can say.. If it doesn't last 3 years they will replace it (Unconditionally)
Also there made in Aurora Colorado..(about 125 miles or so from me) & I know for a fact it gets colder than a witches titty there.. :D

My old Diplomat had a fairly new battery go to crap as it would sit in the dorms parking lot and get started maybe once or twice a week.

Dad had a die-hard battery in the 72 for I believe at least 8 or 9 years. He replaced it this winter, and it was in the truck for about as long as I can remember. It was ancient. Truck sits in an uninsulated or heated shed year round.

And it gets cold here in the winter... hell it's cold right now, it was 10 degrees out last night. They got over 4" of snow in the western part of the state on thursday or friday.

GO AWAY WINTER

EDIT: Mopower, that's what I figured, that you had your block painted blue.
